Our Seedlings and Explorers made Lava Lamps at camp last week! You can make your own at home… see below for the fun and easy at home instructions.
What You’ll Need:
- Clear bottle(s)
- Water
- Oil
- Food Colour
- Alka Seltzer (or silimar effervescent tablet)
- Funnel
How To:
- Pour oil into your bottle – filling it about 2/3 of the way
- Pour water into your bottle – a little less than 1/3 to leave some room at the top
- Add food colouring of choice
- Observe what happens to the food colour
- Cut one Alka Seltzer (or similar) tablet into 8 pieces (you can use a larger piece if you have a big bottle)
- Add one piece of the effervescent tablet at a time and observe the reaction
